During the month of December Finn and I are honored to be able to participate in the "Be A Neighbor" Campaign for Thompson Drive. As many of you know I had the great privilege of growing up on Thompson Drive with Bobby - where neighbors felt more like a big extended family. 50+ years later - we are all still friends and my memories of growing up on Thompson Drive are priceless! We would be thrilled for other kids to be able to experience that same feeling. We are so proud of Bobby and want to do all we can to help him fulfill his dream of helping under-served kids come true!
For many teens growing up in Brooklyn today, the very streets that once offered a strong sense of community and security can now be the source of negative influences and derailing behavior. Bobby founded Thompson Drive to recreate the sense of neighborhood camaraderie for these teenagers that we were so fortunate to have had. Thompson Drive provides them with the resources needed as they prepare for a successful transition to adulthood. Since its founding, they have provided mentoring, educational and life-skills workshops, as well as weekly hot meals to teenagers in the Coney Island neighborhood.
Your donation will go a long way to helping us meet our goal for Thompson Drive! All of the donations we receive will be made in loving memory and honor of the Matriarch of Thompson Drive - Connie Fornabaio.
